1. Mark Ingram, Alabama

Gradually entering the Heisman race with stellar performances as of late, Alabama running back Mark Ingram is a Heisman-favorite with less than a month remaining in the regular season. The 5-foot-10-inch, 212-pound sophomore has spoiled the predominately quarterback-favored Heisman list, rushing for 756 yards and four touchdowns in the past four games.

2. Tim Tebow, Florida

Senior Florida quarterback Tim Tebow bounced back from his poorest performance of the season (12 for 22 for 127 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions last week against Mississippi State) to lead the No. 1 Gators in an impressive 41-17 victory over Georgia. Against the Bulldogs, the former Heisman recipient went 15 of 21 for 164 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 85 yards and two touchdowns. If Tebow performs well enough to lead Florida back to its third BCS Championship Game in four years, he could become only the second two-time recipient of the award.

3. Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame

Though the Fighting Irish have already lost two close games this season, Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen remains a Heisman contender with his extraordinarily efficient play. So far this season, the 6-foot-3-inch junior from Westlake Village, Calif. has thrown for more than 2,300 yards, 18 touchdowns and just two interceptions. If no other players perform exceptionally and Clausen can continue his impressive pace while keeping the Irish a two-loss team, he could emerge as the frontrunner.

4. Colt McCoy, Texas

Playing consistently throughout the past two weeks, Texas quarterback Colt McCoy appears to have returned to Heisman contention form. Since the Longhorn’s 16-13 win over the Sooners, the senior from Tuscola has gone 42 of 52 for 440 yards, four touchdowns and one interception in wins over Missouri and Oklahoma State.

5. Case Keenum, Houston

Houston quarterback Case Keenum continues to gain notoriety while putting up huge numbers for the top team in Conference USA. Last week, the senior from Abilene had a career-high 559 yards for five touchdowns and an interception in a 50-43 victory over Southern Miss. Already with almost 3,300 yards and 25 touchdowns, if Keenum is able to lead the No. 15-ranked Cougars to an 11-1 finish after facing final games on the road at Tulsa and UCF and at home against Memphis and Rice, he could crash the Heisman ceremony.
