It was a familiar scene for Texas athletics. All Texas had to do was beat TCU at home and it would lock up a trip to Omaha for the next round of the NCAA tournament.
Once again the Longhorns were unable to upset a superior team — this time falling to the sixth-ranked Volunteers in Knoxville on Sunday night 78-58. Tennessee pulled ahead midway through the first half and took advantage of the Longhorns’ poor shooting to remain undefeated.
