1. Chase Daniel, Missouri QB

After three high-scoring games, Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel seems all set to grab the coveted Heisman that eluded him last season. He has completed 65 out of 90 passes for 973 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has also rushed for 58 yards and only thrown one interception so far. But his consistency will be amply tested against stronger opponents lined up for later this season. He will be No. 5 Missouri’s calling card time and again as they gun for their first-ever national and Big 12 championship after a close finish last year.

2. Knowshon Moreno, Georgia RB

The No. 3 Bulldogs will hope for their sophomore running back Knowshon Moreno to propel them to a much-awaited national title. He has so far not disappointed Georgia fans by rushing 46 times for 306 yards in the three games he has played this season. He also has seven touchdowns to his name. He was restricted to 92 yards last weekend against South Carolina, which is a season low for him so far. Despite this, his numbers were crucial for the Bulldogs in sealing a 14-7 win over the Gamecocks.

3. Mark Sanchez, USC QB

No. 1 USC has sailed past both of its opponents this season with relative ease, and quarterback Mark Sanchez has had a big role to play in it.  Sanchez has 510 yards and seven touchdowns this year and looked unstoppable against Ohio State last weekend, in which he threw four touchdowns and helped the Trojans complete a 35-3 routing of the No. 13 Buckeyes. The USC offense will have a lot more to say as the season progresses and Sanchez grows into a seasoned passer for them.

4. Sam Bradford, Oklahoma QB

The Oklahoma quarterback has complemented his team’s unbeaten streak with very high numbers. The No. 2 Sooner offense, led by Bradford’s precision passing, has scored more than 50 points in each of its three games this season. Bradford has thrown for 882 yards, which include 12 touchdowns and just two interceptions. With Bradford’s ability to put up numbers against vulnerable defenses, many of which the Sooners are slated to face this year, Oklahoma is likely to get to the top spot.

5. Pat White, West Virginia QB

The West Virginia quarterback seems to be the only thing going right for the No. 21 Mountaineers this season. Despite a shock loss to unheralded East Carolina, White seems to be doing well, as far as his personal numbers are concerned. He has completed 36 out of 51 passes and thrown five touchdowns in the two games this season. He has also rushed for 168 yards and seems able to revive West Virginia almost single-handedly from the early jolts it has received this year. This is definitely going to help his Heisman prospects.
